"Mrs. Martha M. Worsham, aged 64, died Tuesday morning at her residence, 2008 Alexander street. She had lived in Waco 37 years, and is survived by her husband, J. E. Worsham, two sons C. G. of Fort Worth, and L. A. of Tampico, one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Short of Waco, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Williams, Speegleville, and Mrs. T. P. Moore, Chickasha, Okla., one brother, C. A. Young of Wichita Falls, Rev. H. B. Watts will officiate. The funeral will be from the residence at 3 p.m. today, burial at Park Lawn cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mr. T. E. Haney, Waco, Mr. W. H. Price, Mr. A. H. Short, Mr. Frank Roberts, Mr. Chas. Rhodes, Mr. Blackburn McLaughlin."

Former Science Learning Center director, 62, dies, Friends of Hilde Worsham remember the German native as dedicated. By Gretchen Rakiec The Shorthorn news editor, Hilde Worsham made friends wherever she went. She left a trail of friends like Hansel and Gretel left bread crumbs, said Gloria Eyres, retired assistant vice president for graduate studies and longtime friend of Worsham. Eyres said even the pharmacists from whom she picked up medicine for Worsham would say, Oh, Hilde. We love Hilde. Worsham, who retired as Science Learning Center director May 1, died Jun 27 at age 62 at Arlington Memorial Hospital of bone cancer. Eyres said one of Worsham’s first jobs here was as a receptionist for the School of Urban and Public Affairs, where she could make almost anyone feel at ease. Hilde was a very gracious, very charming woman,” she said. She has this talent for people. Jay Worsham, Hilde Worsham’s son, agreed. She was the type of person that wherever she went, she made a friend, whether it was the jewelry store or the hamburger place, he said. When she left, they knew who she was. Worsham was a war bride who came here from Germany when she was about 20 years old. She worked for the school from 1971 to 1991, when she started working in the center. Lori Norris, administrative assistant to the Science dean, met Worsham when she was working in the school. My former boss completed a master’s in SUPA, and Hilde was the person she would send me to turn in papers late, she said. Hilde and I got to be friends over joking about my boss’ tardiness when she was still with SUPA. She was an absolutely lovely woman, always impeccably dressed. We were all worried about the affect chemo would have on her because she took a great deal of pride in her personal appearance — never any roots showing, always perfectly coiffed, perfect hair, perfect nails. Norris said Worsham was the only other person she knew who would taste raw hamburger meat before cooking it. They shared a quest for the perfect hamburger. We have so many vegetarians on campus. She was one of the few people who loved a good old-fashioned hamburger. We’d go out about once a month and look for the perfect hamburger. We were always trying new hamburger places trying to find just the right hamburger. But she described Worsham as a true lady. She always kept herself just absolutely beautiful, she said. “Everyone who met her loved her. You couldn’t know Hilde and not enjoy being around her. Jay Worsham said his mother would want to be remembered as dedicated to her job, her friends, her family — “anything she came into contact with. She expressed anything with honesty and truth and compassion, he said. Norris said Worsham became ill and stopped working in October but waited until May to retire because she intended to return to work. Worsham is survived by her son, Jay Worsham, and his wife Vonnie of Arlington; daughter Yvonne Burns and husband Keith of Tulsa, OK; and grandchildren K.C. Burns, Tanner Burns, Davis Burns and Katie Worsham.

1.3.2.  Francis Marion Worsham "Frank", the son of William C. and  Mary Worsham, md Julia Ann Hooks "July". Julia was the dau. of David Hooks b abt 1784 NC & Clairissa b abt 1803 NC.  Francis' brother, William Carroll Worsham, married Julia's sister, Marabelle Levina Hooks.  Francis made rifles for the South during the Civil War. Barbara Ann Gomez, Dec 10, 1938 — Nov 15, 2006 Valley Springs resident Barbara Ann Gomez died Nov. 15 at her home. She was 67. She was born in Oakland and had lived in Valley Springs for eight years. She worked as an instructional aide in special education for eight years and was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is survived by her husband, Gary Gomez of Valley Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Corriea of Salida, and Karen and Kevin O'Neill, Kelly and Tom Basile, Kippy and Brad Harrison, and Kory and Marco Trujillo all of Manteca; a brother, David Worsham of San Jose; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private services are scheduled Saturday at P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home in Manteca. Donations can be made in her memory to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northern California Chapter, 150 Grand Ave., Oakland, CA 94612. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Virginia and Glen's murder is discussed in the 5 Jun 1985 issue of the Dallas Morning News, p. 20A:

BROWNSVILLE MAN GETS LIFE SENTENCES IN PLEASANT GROVE MURDERS, A South Texas man was sentenced to two terms of life in prison Tuesday after a Dallas jury convicted him of slaying two Pleasant Grove residents in 1983. Harry Eugene Temen, 53, of Brownsville was found guilty of murder in the deaths of Glen and Pearl Todd in their home on South Acres Drive on Oct. 9, 1983, during a robbery. Todd, a 67-year-old radiator shop owner, was shot to death. His 64-year-old wife died from multiple blows to the head with a blunt object. Temen, who said he was negotiating a business deal with Todd, admitted being present when the slayings occurred but said another man killed the Todds and told him to take their diamond and gold jewelry. The man Temen named as the killer, Clyde Edwin Pruett, 50, is fighting extradition to Texas from Colorado, where he and Temen were arrested nine days after the slayings.”

Thomas T. Temen, 2004, wrote:

"It seems that my uncle murdered two of your family members. I just wanted to express my deepest sympathies and apologies to your family. My Uncle was the bad apple of the family. We lost track of him in the early 1980's and never knew what happened to him. During this search I also found that he died in 1999. He spent most of his life in prison but never hurt anyone. I guess its fitting that he died in prison. Again I am very sorry and I will ask my family to pray for yours."

A memorial service will be held on Sat, July 31, 2004, at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, Yorba Linda. Nita was born on Dec 13, 1923 in Whittier, and lived most of her life in Yorba Linda, before moving to Quaker Gardens in Stanton for the past 6 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Edith Worsham and her brother Herbert Noel Worsham. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty (Ray) Naasz of Corona, niece, Rebecca (Patrick) Shaughnessy of Yorba Linda, nephew, Allen (Tami) Worsham of Corona, great-nieces, Amanda Jane & Elizabeth, great-nephew, Matthew.
