Sherry Scritchfield, 2004, provided these
notes from Inice Terneous:
I have been told this family was very poor,
but Maston worked hard by the day to feed his family. I have been told he walked
a long distance over the mountain to visit his sister, Tabitha. In my mind I can
almost see him with his long beard walking along the road. On his last trip he
was found on the road unconscious. His sister Tabitha and her husband Elvin
Warwick put a straw bed on a hack and took him to one of his daughters. He never
knew anyone and lived only a few days. One of his friends also died the same day
and they had a double funeral. They were buried in Hill Cemetery in Knox County,
Tenn.
