1.3.2.4B.1.3.1. Sarah Worsham b abt 1808 of Washington Co, VA who m Ephriam Estridge may be a d/o Joseph Worsham & Nancy McNew. Hazel LeMaire, 2002, wrote that Phoebe Estridge’s father was Ephriam and her mother was Sarah Washam. Hazel found Washington Co marriage records with George Warren m Phoebe Estridge 9-26-1878, it lists Phoebe's parents as "Ephram & Sarah whose records show they were m 10-18-1830". Hazel got the Washam name from an Estridge family tree. "Other facts in their tree were correct so I believe this is true as well."

It is possible that Sarah was the first child of Joseph Worsham & Nancy McNew. Living with Joseph and Nancy in the 1850 Washington Co, VA Census, 67 District, Family 152 is Lillah Estridge who is age 19. Sarah is in the 1850 Washington Co, VA Census (family 484) as Sarah Estrige age 42 b NC, and children b. 1.3.2.4B.1.3.3.  David H Worsham b 27 May 1817 Washington Co, VA & m Susan Hutton 25 May 1845 in Saline, MO.  Robert Terry Everett found his birth in the obit of David Worsham:

David Worsham died at his home on Sunday last, October 12th 1884 after a long and painful sickness, continuing about six months.   The deceased b in Virginia, May 27th, 1817, hence he 66 years, 4 months and 15 days old.  He had lived in this county for about thirty-two years, and had amassed quite a fortune, which he leaves to his twelve surviving children.  His wife died in February last, having reached a good old age.  The two now lay side by side near the orchard on the old homestead.  Ten of the children were present at his death and funeral, and had kindly cared for him to the very last.  He was conscious up to death, and talked freely with those about him, realizing his approaching end.  His children had gathered from far and near to be with him in his last hours, two coming from California and the far west.  His funeral was preached by Rev. S. Carothers on Monday afternoon to a large circle of relatives and friends at the residence, after which all that was mortal of this aged father was laid to rest, awaiting the call of a merciful and just God.  S.

Robert Terry Everett believes there were more children, as their were several graves with stones on the Washam farm in Holt Co. David and Susannah were two of them, however, there is no sign of this graveyard now, the folks in the county know where it was.  Susannah had a large grave stone & farmers must have plowed over old gravesites. Since David  had 12 children surviving Robert believed there are 3 missing from the book, two were passed down in  family records, Jim and Emma Washam. (Robert Terry Everett, 2000)
A daughter of David Washam (Jr) by the name of Ester wrote about "grandfather David coming back to Mound City, MO. It also states that there were 12 children from David senior and David junior was the 7th."(Gail Washam, 2000)
This family is in the History of Holt County Missouri "Gone Home"

1.3.2.4B.1.3.3.2.  George W Washam. In the Atchison Globe (Atchison, Kansas) 22 Jul 1884, p4:

From a passenger who came in on Conductor Kennedy's train yesterday morning, a reporter learned partial particulars of the probable fatal wounding of Mr. Edward Harrison at the hands of his brother-in-law, George Washam, near Mound City, Mo., Sunday afternoon. Both men are farmers, and for some time past a grudge has existed between them. Sunday both went squirrel hunting, and meeting in the woods, a mile and a half from town, the old feud was renewed, when Washam raised his gun and fired. The entire charge took effect in Harrison's face and head, and his recovery is a matter of grave doubt. Washam proceeded to Mound City, and gave himself up yesterday and yesterday was released on bond.

The next day in the Atchison Globe, 23 Jul 1884, p2:

George Washam and E J. Harrison met in the woods a mile and a half east of Mound City, Holt County, recently, and revived an old feud. Washam fatally shot Harrison in the face with a shot gun at five paces.

Judy Washam, 2010, provided this newspaper article describing Robert's death.

Henrietta G Rice is in the 1880 census of Green River, Wyoming, age 10 WY.  The 1900 census of Green River, #159, Henrietta Washam is a dressmaker b Nov 1864, so the age ten in the 1880 census may have been 16, however, she is age 30, which matches the 10. She is a widow with one child, Alfred Washam who is Alfred Robert Washam, b Jan 1886. It looks like David H. and James Washam, along with Alfred, their nephew did some moving between Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. (Vicki Gentz, 2000)  In the 20 Feb 1888 Oregon, MO, record of the David Washam estate, Robert is dec'd & his wife is Henrietta Gertrude.

John M Bryson obituary. (L. A. Times, 28 Mar 1915 p 12, courtesy of Roberta Everett, 2009):

Heart Cause of Sudden Demise. End Comes at Country Home Sought as Refuse. John M. Bryson, Prominent Business Man, Son of Former Mayor and Father of Public Administrator, Cut Off When He Felt Health was Returning.

John M. Bryson, a prosperous business man, son of former Mayor John Bryon and father of Public Administrator Frank Bryson, died suddenly early yesterday with heart trouble at his country home, Freeman and Patton streets, Lennox, a suburban district between Inglewood and Hawthorne. He was 63 years old and had been a resident of Los Angeles twenty-eight years.

For some years his heart had been erratic in its action, causing him discomfort and spells of depressed feeling, and to aid his health he had gone to the ranch seven months ago. In midweek he was feeling very well, doing light work about the property and taking particular interest in the planting of seed.

When he made ready for bed Friday night he remarked to his wife: "I've been feeling pretty good this week, haven't I, mother? I felt real strong today and I hope to goodness that I feel as well tomorrow. It's such a relief to feel good."

They retired, and in the morning Mrs. Bryson was aroused by groans. She called to Mr. Bryson, but he could not answer. His appearance was alarming and she summoned a physician, who arrived after life had gone.

His son, Public Administrator Bryson, had been in the San Jacinto Mountains several days and was notified by messenger yesterday of the sudden death.

Mr. Bryson, who was a native of Muscatine, Iowa, where he was profitably engaged in the lumber business, came to Los Angels twenty-eight years ago. His father became active in politics and was elected Mayor of the city. Mr. Bryson assumed an active interest in business and was part owner of the Bryson Block, which his father financed. He had considerable real estate and was reputed to be wealthy.

His mother, Mrs. Evaline Bryson, who is 96 years old, is still living, at No. 1237 Elden avenue. Mr. Bryson's father died when 89 years old.

Besides the widow and son, Mr. Bryson leaves two brothers and a sister, Isaac H. Bryson, James F. Bryson, Mrs. Margaret Krause, all living here.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the home of the elder Mrs. Bryson No 1227 Elden Avenue.

Interment will be in the private vault in Inglewood Cemetery. The body is at the Pierce mortuary.

"Ruthie's husbands name was David Bradley ...  I'm enclosing a picture of my grandmother Ruthie playing her guitar. I don't know when the picture was taken but I scanned it & touched it up a bit. I was told she loved the old time country western bands and was on early California radio. I believe her band was called "Captain Jack & His Texas Outlaws" I'm also a musician but I'm more into the Irish/traditional music as far as playing goes. (I play guitar, mandolin, ukulele, bass, & noodle with other instruments) I have Ruthie's banjo ukulele-story behind that was she purchased it on a road trip thru San Jose from a guy who made them & sold them from a roadside stand. She started carving "San Jose" on the back of the neck but never finished it. I'm also sending a picture of that banjo-uke you want to use it."
