Lucinda b abt 1841 TN. Jay G. Lamb found the above mentioned will in the Carter Co., TN courthouse. Included was a 22 Mar 1860 receipt for $88.80 paid to Robert Worsham. Also in the Carter Co., TN courthouse were found papers regarding the estate of William Miller. His will names Lucinda M. A. Washam as a daughter. In guardianship papers for the Miller children, she was identified as Mary A. Worsham.

(1/12-1870; 10-1880; 49-1920) The following information was received from Frances Burkett, 2000: "William Delaney Worsham brought his new bride, Mary Elizabeth Long out of Oklahoma to Texas in the year 1896, making their home in Mineola for a while then to Bowie, Texas. After a short time in Mineral Wells, the young couple moved their family for the last time and settled in Graham where they purchased a farm north of town in the Flint Creek Community. They remained on the farm until "Jake's" poor health required the move into town to be near the family physician. Before failing health, Jake and his close friend, Homer Brigham worked together buying, selling or trading mules, horses and cattle in and around Young county. Mr Brigham owned a truck and drove Jake and whatever livestock they had bought or traded to their destination. Jake would sometimes buy some poor and neglected animal and with good feed, water and the necessary care, restore them back to stock worthy of a good sale price. He was known by his neighbors as a kind, generous and honest man. Mary Elizabeth "Lizzy" tended to her family, sewing to provide clothing, cooking and cleaning. A quilt frame, hanging from the ceiling, always had a quilt in progress. She was always ready to help out her neighbors. She assisted in the deliveries of some of the neighborhood babies. Her children remember coming home from school and always finding fresh baked sweet potatoes on the back of the wood stove in the kitchen. Jake kept peanut hay in the loft of his barn. The children and grandchildren would spend hours in the loft laughing, talking, playing with kittens and eating peanut. The old well near the kitchen door provided the best drinking water in the country for the hot and thirsty visitor. Jake b in Shelby Co, Tennessee 29 May 1871. He came to Texas as a small child and later moved to Oklahoma. He told his family of herding sheep when he was very small boy and of how lonely he would get. The story is told that, as a young man, he bought and sold mules to the U. S. Army.   Mary Elizabeth b in Nacogdoches, Texas to Samuel Houston and Luanna Carnley Long, 28 July 1879.  Her family left Texas after 1880, moving to Lindsey, Oklahoma (Lindsay, Garvin Co, OK) where she and her sister Josephine were raised along with a half brother, William Cochran.  She married Jake Worsham about 1896.  Together they raised ten children;  Eva May Worsham Gregory, Ethel (died in Mineola at age 18 months),  Maggie Lee Worsham Burkett,  Laska Worsham Atwell,  Mabel Worsham Johnson,  Lloyd Howard Worsham,  Carl J. Worsham,  Fannie Leona Worsham Alcorn,  Jonnie B. Worsham Orr and Thelma Elizabeth Worsham Stanton.
Evenings at the Worsham home found the children gathered around Momma and Papa.  Papa played the fiddle and he and Momma sang all the old songs.  Carl "Rusty" learned to play the mandolin and Lloyd "Bud" learned to play the guitar.
Prostate cancer claimed the life of Jake Worsham  20 December 1938.  Mary Elizabeth Worsham resided on Indiana Street after his death for the thirty-six years.  She died  30 May 1974."

Mr. Worsham b in Tennessee on May 29, 1871.  As a small boy he came with his family to Texas, and lived in Hill county until 1907, when he moved to Young county.  For about thirty years he engaged in ranching and farming northeast of Graham.  He was well known throughout the section, and was held in high esteem for his splendid character and integrity.

In "The Graham Leader"  Thursday Dec 22, 1938: FLINT CREEK:

"The Worsham family have the most heartfelt sympathy of their friends in this community in the loss of their husband and father.  The Worsham family made their home in this community many years, having moved to Graham last year.  Uncle Jake, as Mr. Worsham was lovingly called,  was highly respected by all who knew him and his passing brought sadness to many hearts."

In the "The Graham Leader" Thursday May  (30) , 1974 is:

Farewell To An Oldtimer, Written in memory of Mrs. Mary Worsham, by Ed Spivey.
"Many people of the Graham area were saddened last week by the passing of Mrs Mary Worsham, almost ninety five years old.  As I attended the funeral service I thought of the years that I had known the family.  My father and "Uncle Jake" Worsham were close friends when I was a child.  Then in my youth I enjoyed the companionship of their youngsters in my age group.  Then I thought of the twilight years, and the love and devotion of her family as they attended to her needs.  As I listened to her pastor tell about her devotion to God and His church, the thought came to me that the unselfish life that she had lived has been reflected in the lives of her family.  I am glad that they are my friends.  "For the Lord of the harvest has thrust in his sickle and gathered the golden grains for his own."
