Arms, Colfax, wid appl #17488. In the 1850 Baltimore Ward 1, Maryland census they are
John E. Wreshieon age 32 b VA mariner and Catherine age 27 b MD with children: Albert
age 8, John age 7, Sarah J age 6, Henry age 3.

census.

office writes as follows: "We received your "In Historic Frederick"

fact that the people of Maryland do not know what they have and how rich we are in
our nation's history." Mr Worsham has issued for Baltimore a similar folder.

George A. Alexander, 76 years old, of Saunders Creek, near
Milton, who died in a Huntington hospital at 6:30 o'clock yesterday morning
following a prolonged illness, will be buried in Wilson cemetery this afternoon
following funeral services at 2:30 o'clock at the Heck Funeral home in Milton
with the Rev. J. Thornburg, assisted by the Rev. Gene Thornburg, of Huntington,
officiating. Mr. Alexander was prominently known in Cabell county as a farmer
and cattleman. Pallbearers will be C. L. Harshbarger, Robert E. Thornburg, E. E.
Harshbarger, E. S. Jacks, Grover Blackwood, Dr. F. F. Farnsworth, Walter Johnson
and Mack Roberts. Surviving are two sons, one daughter and an adopted daughter,
Mrs. Fannie Cooper, of Milton.

I am the youngest son of George A. Alexander, Sr and Martha Jennie aka
Jennie aka Martha Jean (official name change) Washam. My older brother George A. Jr. is
deceased-he was vet of WWII jumping with the 101st airborne Omaha beach--saving Pvt. Ryan
film, later a very successful businessman, older sister June died in 1997 of Mad Cows disease,
also had a very successful career as a traveling saleswomen. Myself, retired but still
teaching capstone business courses--having served as administrator and Professor for
Marshall University for about 50 years. Korean war vet with 29 1/2 months service Korean
area. Vet of US Army Air Corps and USAF, over 12 years service active and in-active.

Edgar served in the US Air Force during World War II as a Second Lieutenant in the
446th Bomb Group. Edgar died 8 Mar 1944 Fuhrberg, Germany and was bur 10 Apr 1950
in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, MO. From the History of
the 446th Bomb Group, p 69:
Mission 34 8 Mar 1944:
"The Friederichstrasse
station in Berlin again was the briefed primary target, with the provision that if
visual bombing could be done the VKF ball bearing works at Erkner, sixteen miles south
would be attacked, the plant was one of highest priority. ... Bombing was from 22,000
feet. The Group suffered its heaviest loss for one day, losing three planes and crews.
... No one in the 446th formation noticed this B-24 of the 707th break away from the
formation. According to German records which are a little bit confusing this plane
crashed near Fuhrberg, Germany. The records show that four planes were hit and caught
fire, two of them crashed in that vicinity. Crew on board: Pilot 1/ Lt Clifton C
Heifer KIA, co pilot 2/Lt Edgar A Worsham Jr KIA, ..."
